Sid Meiers Civilization 4

5out of 5 Best Civ game yet! - Skry

I became hooked on Civilisation when Civ 3 was first released. I played that game to death and bought all the expansion packs for it, not regretting any of the purchases.

When Civ 4 came out I ordered it immediately and am happy to say that I wasn't disappointed at all. This game is a big step forward from the original three, which only really improved graphics and sound as computers became more powerful.

Civ 4 has a lot of attention to detail in it, from various religions and political choices of play to resources and trade deals. You can play as one of 26 leaders of 18 civilisations (more if you get one or both of the expansion packs - also highly recommended). There are many types of leaders from militaristic (Genghis Khan) to cultural (Louis XIV) to religious (Ghandi) and more.

No matter how you like to play there are plenty of strategies you can use to build your civilisation from a small nation at 4000BC to a world-beating nation by 2050AD (the end of the game). There are many ways to win the game by 2050AD such as being the first to get to the moon, being voted in as head of the UN or controlling more than two thirds of the map.

This game is a turn-based strategy that will have you playing it time and time again due to the random map generator, multitude of leaders and playing styles. I don't know how the game could be improved, but I can't wait to see what Civ 5 looks like :D

Firefly: Complete Series: 4dvd

5out of 5 An excellent series - Skry

This is a series that I missed first time round on TV. The first I knew of the series Firefly is when I saw the full-length film Serenity (2005). I loved it and said to a friend "They should make a series of that - I bet it would rock!"

Of course I was completely unaware that there was a series out there and, when I found out, I tried to get my hands on it as fast as possible. I wasn't disappointed.

The series was originally aired in 2002 and was cancelled by Fox network. I can't understand why, as it has become a cult classic and everyone I know who's seen it has greatly enjoyed it, even people who wouldn't usually be fans of sci-fi.

The series is brilliantly written by Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy and Angel. Unlike these series, Firefly is a completely different step towards sci-fi, comedy and action. With a detailed and varied futuristic world that Joss has obviously spent a lot of time thinking about, each character has a depth unparalleled in most other series.

Each episode will make you want to watch the next and the only negative thing about Firefly is that it was cancelled after only 14 episodes. Thanks Fox Network. Hopefully they'll realise their mistake and restart the series like they did with Family Guy and Futurama.

A very gripping, detailed and exciting series. Check it out and I bet you'll get hooked!
