300 (2 Discs)

4out of 5 Great effects - Storyline missing - Don

This is a decent movie, and best viewed on a big screen. The spartans put up a good fight, with loads of slow motion fanciness, and epic CGI. Overall however the movie lacks much depth and doesn't inspire multiple views.

Nokia N95 (O2)

4out of 5 N95.. good choice - Simon

Having not owned a Nokia for some years and running PDA's I thought it was about time to give it another shot.
Got my deal through T-Mobile via an upgrade. The phone itself is a huge improvment compared with previous models and is stuffed full of features for example GPS, high res screen, graphics processor, TV out function (leads supplied), sterio speakers, 3G, HSDPA modem (broadband speed connections), 5 megapixel camera.
All the functions work well although a little twitchy at first but after a couple of firmware upgrades the phone is faultless.
The only problem with mine was the ear piece sound quality however this was quickly rectified by T-Mobile.

If you like a phone packed full of gadgets then its a must but be aware heavy usage will take its toll on the poor old battery usually 1 day.

Yes Man

5out of 5 Just read it - Amelia

I was given this as a present. It never really jumped out at me and wasn't until months later that I took it on holiday with me as an easy read - I couldn't put it down! Although the whole concept of the book (him saying yes to everything) is a little silly and at times you think that he may be taking it a little too far, there is something undefineable that keeps you gripped from start to finish.

The story weaves between his random adventures from agreeing to things he shouldn't, and his general life journey. I think it is the latter that makes it more believable - the fact that he is just a normal human being.

At times throughout the book, it all seems a bit pointless. And it's not until the final chapter that everything falls into place. This is a very feel-good book and has left me hoping that this isn't the last we hear of this author.

Fuji Finepix F31fd Compact Digital Camera

4out of 5 Just the ticket - Amelia

I bought this inbetween travelling trips, as my last one had been scratched and scraped one too many times. When searching for a camera, my main criteria was 1-good pictures in low light and 2-waterproof. Due to the lack of good quality waterproof cameras, I decided to let this slip and focus on a really good camera for low light pictures.

The main reason for this was my next trip - to see the Northern Lights. I knew this would be a once in a lifetime trip and wanted to make sure I could capture the moment, which would be the ultimate test. This camera didn't disappoint. The pictures were clear and unblurred, unlike night pictures with my previous camera.

Where everyone else's cameras were instantly going dead in minus 30 degree conditions, the battery on this lasts forever. I have only charged it once since buying it 9 months ago and I take it everywhere with me, quite literally.

Other perks:
- User friendly, no need to ever read the instructions
- Video with sound
- Large LCD display
- You can crop the pictures on camera and it saves a copy of the original automatically

If you want to be really picky, the only disadvantages are that it doesn't come with a protective case (wouldn't have used anyway), has no viewfinder (wouldn't have used anyway) and if you zoom in too much the pictures have a slight blur (never found this to be a problem though).

The picture clarity especially in low light and battery life are the seller.

Blood Diamond (1 Disc)

5out of 5 Absolutely brilliant - Rachel

After renting this new movie on DVD, I have just also ordered it which means this film is special to warrant addition to my collection. The storyline is thought provoking and controversial and yes...the politics and actions that provide the 'storyline' of this film are real life. Leonardo di Caprio is not a favourite actor of mine but in this film he is brilliant, how he maintains his South African accent and demise throughout this film (running time approx 2.45 hrs) is beyond me, he is completely different from the school boy we saw in Titanic and his maturity really adds depth to the film. Diamonds are a girls best friend? The message of this film will make you think twice about this cliche. Drama, action, compassion, a must see.

Prison Break: Complete Season 1: 6dvd: Box Set

3out of 5 Good but not 24.... - Rachel

....I found myself hiring Prison Break series 1 from my local DVD shop when I had finished watching series 1-5 of 24. At first I wondered how they could make a TV series worthy of over 20 episodes about breaking out of a prison but as the clever production team managed to keep me interested, I have now pre-ordered series 2 as a gap filler pending series 6 of 24 arriving. Wentworth Miller is a great new actor and the variety of characters keeps the plot going. Good but not 24.

24 (Twenty Four): Season 1 - 5 Box Set

5out of 5 Back to Back Bauer - Rachel

24 is one of the best TV series to hit our small screens - Kiefer Sutherland is fantastic as the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) lead agent, Jack Bauer. Having watched the series on Sky, the DVD option is a thousand times better. On TV the commercial breaks every ten minutes ruin the suspense that has fans of 24 on the edge of their seat. I would be confident in saying that 24 is a better production than most films that are hitting the silver screen of late. Every episode set in real time explores and unveils thicker and deeper plots with twists and turns continually keeping viewers interested. The beauty of 24 is that whilst viewers can become attached to characters (Tony, Michelle, David Palmer) etc when a certain character leaves the series there is little disappointment as new characters are introduced and settle into the drama quickly (Karen Hayes, Bill Buchanan, Audrey Raines). If you enjoy action, suspense, drama and not being able to guess a plot easily then this is for you. Kiefer Sutherland doesn't steel the limelight of other solid cast members, the character Chloe O'Brien is a legend. You can easily watch episode to episode and series to series back to back! Fox have come up trumps with 24 and with series 6 also available soon, I'm hoping this will run into at least 10 series.

Sky High (UMD Movie)

4out of 5 Surprisingly funny - Don

I watched this movie at a friend's house recently, and I had very low expectations. However, Sky High was actually really funny, largly due to the decent performances of the main characters.

Well worth checking out!

The Da Vinci Code

4out of 5 Up to the Hype? - Dawn H.

Definitely a great read, filled with cool information about the mystery and the huge book's pages seem to turn themselves....up to the hype? Not the most fantastic book of all time but in my top 100.

Amorphis - Tuonela

5out of 5 Their best album to date (2007) - Skry

Amorphis have changed a lot since their doom/death metal roots and have become a lot more progressive in their style since the release of Elegy.

Tuonela continues this trend and the band has advanced in leaps and bounds, becoming one of the most popular and respected bands in their genre.

Their single Divinity from this album is great and can be found on many sites (YouTube is the best if you want to see the video). It is a great example of why this band is so great, as it shows that anyone who things metal music is all screaming and fast drums clearly knows nothing about metal music at all. Accessible and easy on the ear, Tuonela surpasses all other Amorphis albums in my opinion and is their best to date.
